About Me
Dannell MacIlwraith has worked as an artist and designer for over 15 years. She teaches at Kutztown University in southeastern Pennsylvania’s Art & Design department. She earned a BA in Digital Art from Tyler School of Art, an MEd in Art Education from Kutztown University, and an MFA in Graphic Design from Vermont College of Fine Arts. Dannell is active with Healing Through the Arts, a non-profit that places original artwork in hospitals and clinics. Her art is a means to work through anxiety and struggles. Dannell’s area of expertise is the concept of ‘letting go through art’ through analog, digital, and animated collages. She is researching inclusive assessment techniques and hopes to transform the Eurocentric critique formats into user-friendly critique methods that all can appreciate and learn from.
She is a passionate and dedicated educator and artist seeking to share her love of making collages. She loves overlaying elements to create ‘happy accidents’ and showcase an entertaining juxtaposition. Through her work, she aims to explore the intersection of art and design, using chance as a form of making and typography by pushing boundaries and embracing experimentation. Ultimately, Dannell aspires to exhibit artwork in galleries, lead workshops on her process, and leave the viewers wanting to accept the unexpected.
